Gigi's Departure No Surprise For Charmaine
Cast members from TVB series When Easterly Showers Fall On The Sunny West <東山飄雨西關晴> including Liza Wang (汪明荃), Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼), Joe Ma (馬德鐘), Raymond Wong (黃浩然), Selena Li (李詩韻) and Jeanette Leung (梁政玨) attended a promotional event for the series today, where they played games and celebrated the show being selected to air during TVB's anniversary month.
Asked if she was happy about the arrangement, Liza replied that she had not thought too much about it because it was the company's decision. She was pleased that the show is being aired so soon after filming and she hopes that the unusual setting of the period drama will provide viewers with a suitable alternative.
Talking of Gigi Lai (黎姿)'s decision to leave showbiz, Liza said that she felt Gigi is making the best decision for herself and she respects the choice to leave. Asked if she had ever thought about retiring, Liza replied that she still has to live and she will probably be doing this job for the rest of her days. She said that if she suddenly feels no urge to work, then she will let everyone know.
Charmaine was happy that Gigi has reached this decision to go and seek her other ambitions in life. She revealed she knew that even a year ago, Gigi did not want to continue with her acting and she seemed content in her decision at the time. Charmaine said that she was not surprised at the revelation this week and as a friend, she will offer every support. As for herself, Charmaine said that she has no such plans yet, but if she wants to move onto another stage in her life in the future to study or go into business, then she may consider it.
