Charmaine Sheh and Bobby Au nominated for International Emmy Awards



MUMBAI: An august gathering of judges from the media fraternity was present today at a jury meeting to select the finalists for the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' 35th International Emmy Awards.

The semi-final round of the judging process was hosted by Indiantelevision.com in a day-long event, here in the city.

This year 33 entries arrived from Asia, Africa and the Middle East to be adjudged across four categories including the best performance by an actor, actress, drama series, TV movie/mini series.

The awards in all categories will be announced in November during the gala event in New York.

In the category for best performance by an actor, China Movie Channel's My Private Deutschland actor Guo Jia Ming playing Xiao Yang and Television Broadcasts Limited's Dicey Business actor Bobby Au Yeung Chun Wah playing Chai Foon-cheung notched top scores.

For best performance by an actress, Penguin Films' Home Affairs actress Brenda Ngxoli playing Vuyo and Television Broadcasts Ltd's The Dance of Passion actress Charmaine Sheh Sze Man playing Ka Chun-fun were selected.

For the TV movie-mini series category China Movie Channel's Toy Train and NHK's (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) The Vulture found the confidence of the jury to go through to the finals.

Meanwhile, for the drama series category Penguin Films' Home Affairs and ABS-CBN Broadcasting corporation's Sa Piling Mo (In Your Arms) went through to the finals.

The panel of judges evaluating the entries comprised of Sony VP development and programming Sanjay Upadhyay, INX Media's upcoming entertainment channel 9X head of fiction Kumud Chaudhury, Neela Telefims producer Asit Modi, Contiloe Films creative head of non-fiction Rajeev Laxman, Rose Audio Visuals' Shristi Arya, Art.ery Animation and Fx VFX supervisor and creative director Yunus Bukhari, script-writer R D Tailang and actors Archana Puransingh, Pawan Shankar and Urvashi Dholakia.
