Charmaine Sheh being stalked by reporters

[29/05/2009 Sehseh's Blog Daily]

[Beyond the Realm of Conscience] have just wrapped up filming and one of its leading actress, Charmaine Sheh is currently taking a holiday break till September.

Fearing that they will become another pathetic figure in HK unemployment statistic without juicy gossips of Charmaine, the paparazzi and reporters relentlessly stalk her as soon as she step out from her home in North Point. This morning, Sehseh's Blog Daily noticed a news report from Singtao about Charmaine in Causeway Bay, detailing down to the drinks she purchased.

If drinking papaya milk means desiring breast endowment, then perhaps Singtao reporters should consume more pig brains. Like they said themselves: 以形补形.

[Next Magazine Issue 1003] Heaven & Earth

Note: The article below is translated from tabloid magazine Next, therefore please read it with a pinch of salt.

Going back on one's word: Nick Cheung turned TVB upside down

Through his role in the movie [Beast Stalker], Nick Cheung was awarded Best Actor in the 28th Hong Kong Film Awards. His status and fees was immensely elevated after the win. Originally he personally agreed to return to TVB in June to film grand production series [Heaven and Earth] produced by Chik Kei Yi starring Moses Chan, Bowie Lam, Charmaine Sheh and Sheren Tang. However, since he won the award there are plenty of movie offers for him. The best actor immediately goes back on his word and refused to film series.

Long series with cannibalism theme

TVB grand production series for this year [HAE] show hand during last year's sales presentation ceremony with its stellar cast and attracted the investment of many advertisers. The story is about four young men getting trapped during a snow mountain expedition and three of them (Moses, Nick and Bowie) devoured their injured companion in order to survive. The storyline resemble western movie [Alive].

Showing up on his own and offering to film series

Though Nick finally basks in pride with his Best Actor award, his movies for the last two years did not garner favorable review and the box office sales are just average. He's even demoted to supporting actor roles and there were rumors that he was clinically depressed for a period of time. In order to save his career, Nick seeks help from golden producer Chik Kei Yi, who raised him to popularity in the past.

Nick moved from ATV to TVB in year 1998 and became popular with his villain role in Chik Kei Yi's [Secret of the Heart]. Seeing that his career is stalling, Nick follows the trend to go back to TV series in order to revive his popularity. Chik Kei Yi agreed immediately and arranged for him to take the leading actor role in 2009 grand production series [HAE] alongside Moses, Bowie, Sheren, Charmaine, Maggie Shiu and Louise Lee.

To show his sincerity, last year October Nick filmed the sales presentation clip for free and the it was broadcasted to advertisers during the sales presentation ceremony. On the other hand, he verbally agreed to arrange his schedule for June – September to film the series. However, after he won Best Actor in April, Nick changed his attitude and indicates that he will only have free schedule in October. In addition, the previously allocated 4 months have to be reduced to 2 months filming.

Sheren quiting her role

As Chik Kei Yi feels that only Nick is suitable for the role, he rather postpones the schedule and insists on casting Nick. Nick was suspected of receiving many movies offers, including Wong Jing's new movie and Raymond Wong Bak Ming's Lunar New Year movie. Even Johnny To is looking for him, with such popularity. To avoid missing out opportunities and affecting his status, Nick was said to be adamant in rejecting Chik Kei Yi's series.

It's unknown whether Nick have already made it clear to TVB that he will not be filming as the production schedule keep postponing, from October to next year.

Earlier when he was recording for [Be My Guest], Nick revealed to reporters: "I really want to return to TVB to film series, but my schedule for this year is busy, I hope there will be another opportunity next year!"

As the schedule keeps changing, TVB resource department requested Chik Kei Yi to change the cast and removed Nick. They will not change the October schedule again. The schedule of Moses, Charmaine and Sheren, who are originally anticipating the filming in June, was turned upside down. Allegedly Sheren quitted from the series, Charmaine turned her allocated schedule into holiday break and Moses is the luckiest one by transferring his schedule to earn money and film series in Mainland China.

Nick Cheung unfairly accused

[Oriental Daily 28/05/09]

Nick Cheung who won Best Actor award, was accused out of the blue recently. He originally agreed to film TVB series [Heaven and Earth] produced by Chik Kei Yi and was accused of declining the series due to his success as Best Actor and the numerous movies offers that comes with it.

Regarding this EEG executive Mani Fok defended Nick and indicate that Nick's grateful gesture was returned with unfair accusations and misunderstanding. Initially Nick did agree to film the series, but the schedule keep postponing. In the end, Nick could not participate in the filming. Nick has also informed Chik Kei Yi that he will definitely take part in his next series.

Additional news from 《羊城晚报》:

TVB: The cast is not confirmed

Yesterday, TVB's External Affairs Assistant Chief Tsang Sing Ming responded to 《羊城晚报》reporter and indicate that Nick is not TVB contracted artistes. They have to depend on the arrangement of both sides before collaborating. Even if Nick could not participate in [HAE], "It's not a great matter, no need to make a big deal out of it." Tsang stressed that the cast for [HAE] are still in discussion. The sales presentation clip is just for publicity, it doesn't mean that the actors/actresses in the clip will be casted. " I'm not sure where the reports (about Nick declining to film) came from, but we haven't settle the details of the series yet. At the moment there is no need to debate the question whether Nick is participating or not."

EEG: No response for now

Nick is currently EEG contracted artist. 《羊城晚报》reporter contacted his manager Sherry, but she said: "Will only respond after reading the report." Up till now EEG have yet to provide any feedback. However, while recording for [Be My Guest], Nick 'hinted': "I really want to return to TVB to film series, but my schedule for this year is busy, I hope there will be another opportunity next year."

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usAs disappointed as I feel about Nick not being able to participate in [Heaven & Earth], I have to defend him because all the accusations mentioned above are really unfair.

1. Nick has always been known as an humble and underrated actor. He always responded positively when reporters asked him about his collaboration with TVB.

2. Anyone who watched HK movies knows that Nick is a regular in Wong Jing and Johnny To's movies. During the slump of his movie career, Nick filmed a lot of slapstick comedy for Wong Jing. In the recent years, he filmed plenty of action movies, including Johnny To's. So to say that he suddenly receive movies offers from them doesn't hold water.

3. Chik Kei Yi and Nick have already clarified before that the reason the series is postponing is because TVB can't confirm on the schedule. An artiste time schedule is very precious and most of them have to be allocated at least half year in advance. You can't expect Nick to sit idle waiting for TVB right? I don't think money-sucking EEG would allow that either.

4. I've never heard about Sheren confirming to take part in [HAE]. So far the only people who confirmed to reporters are Bowie and Moses only. When asked by fans, Charmaine mentioned that [HAE] will be filmed next year. Furthermore, Charmaine was not 'forced' to change her schedule to holiday break. She's been taking annual break in June since 2006!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Anyway, I do not think TVB is filming [HAE] in October. I have a feeling that Chik Kei Yi is indeed filming a new series in Sept/Oct and Bowie, Moses, Charmaine and Louise are casted. Just that it's not [HAE]. Like Chik Kei Yi, I feel that only Nick is suitable to lead in [HAE] and the series won't be the same without him. Another Chik Kei Yi series regular, Maggie Shiu will be meeting fans in June, perhaps we will get more news update then.

p.s. June 6, Bowie mentioned that he will be filming HAE in Sept. Keep you fingers crossed...

By the way, don't forget to visit Charmaine's TVB blog and leave her a Happy Birthday message!

Happy Birthday to Charmaine!

[Beyond the Realm of Conscience] Kevin Cheng and Charmaine Sheh receive permission to date

Though Charmaine Sheh and Kevin Cheng have a lot of rumors recently, this has not affected their mood while filming [Beyond]. Kevin indicated: "I will not pay attention to the rumors, because they tell different version of stories each time. I will take it in my stride. Now I only concentrate in filming series and ignore other stuffs." As for Charmaine, she expressed that she doesn't share that much on-screen time with Kevin. Their ambiguous relationship in the series will only be narrated in the early 10 episodes. Though they have many rumors, they do not feel awkward working together.

P1 captions (top to bottom)

Neverending
Rumored couple Charmaine and Kevin were given permission to date in [Beyond]. They have more opportunity to spend time with each other during filming, hence the rumors are neverending.

Overcoming obstacles
They portrayed a couple in the series and have to overcome a lot of obstacles to be together because of differences in their social status.

Special task
Kevin portrays a chess master in the series. He may look scholarly in his appearance, but he also has another special task of protecting the emperor (Moses) from danger.

P2 captions (clockwise from top right)

Heart that belong to others
Moses always liked Charmaine but when he found out that she likes Kevin, he has no choice but give up his love.

Timely rescue
An assassin disguised as palace maid attacked Moses. Luckily Kevin arrived in time to rescue him.

Rehearsing the moves
Before filming the actual action scenes, Kevin repeatedly rehearses the movements with the martial art instructor.

Does not panic in time of danger
When Charmaine saw the assassin attacking Moses, she does not panic and even used her body to shield him.

The Battle Continues...

After their fight in [Moonlight Resonance], Michelle Yim and Susanna Kwan shifted their battlefield from the cake bakery to the internal palace of [Beyond]. Their fighting never ceased.

P3 captions (clockwise from top right)

Fractured relationship
Michelle and Susanna entered the palace together and shared a sister-like relationship throughout the years. Afterward Michelle misunderstood that Susanna betrayed her and started to regard her as her mortal enemy.

Harboring other intentions
Kara Hui manages the Food and Beverage department. On the surface she appears to be the peacemaker between the four controllers. She will step out and pacify when discord arises, but actually harbor other intentions.

Mean and petty
Grand Empress Dowager Susan Tse is actually a mean and petty person. She has ill intentions toward Moses, a prince born by Mary Hon.

Ruthless to achieve goals
Almost everyone fought for their own personal gains in the palace. The internal palace is the place where women schemed against each other. Using underhand tactics, Tavia rose from the rank of a lowly maid to an imperial concubine. She is not to be taken lightly.

The fourth article is Yoyo Chen's blog entry in TVB mag. She mentioned that it was a happy experience working with Tavia and Charmaine.

Tavia, Devily Leung, Charmaine and Yoyo grew up in the palace together. Yoyo's character likes to bully others, especially Tavia & Charmaine.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Hehehe Charmaine looks adorable in the picture, she look the youngest!

I apologize if there is any unintentional mistake.

Charmaine Sheh reversed back to 12 years

[Apple Daily 22/05/2009]

Rumored couple Charmaine Sheh and Kevin Cheng filmed outdoor scenes for new series [Beyond the Realm of Conscience] at Lai Chi Kok Garden yesterday. As Charmaine's 34th birthday coincidentally falls on next week's Thursday; which is also the Duanwu Festival, a group of 20 fans brought cake and gifts to visit her on-set.

During lunchtime, Charmaine and Kevin noticed the presence of reporters and sat far away from each other while having their lunch. Charmaine quickly finished her lunch to cut the birthday cake with fans. There's a huge "Sheh" word on the cake and it wishes a Happy 22nd birthday. Charmaine was delighted and said: "It's a beautiful lie." As Charmaine's upcoming birthday falls on Duanwu festival, fans specially presented her with glutinous rice and lychee. When Charmaine blew the candles and made her wish, a female worker at the garden said: "Marry a rich guy. It doesn't matter if he is handsome or not!"

Charmaine birthday wish is good health for everyone, no more Influenza A in Hong Kong. She expressed that [Beyond] officially wrap up filming next Wednesday therefore she can have a holiday on her birthday. "I plan to accompany Mummy, who have just returned to HK. Later we will go back to Hawaii together."

Charmaine Sheh and Kevin Cheng dragged Kiki Sheung in their private dinner

[Oriental Daily 22/05/2009]

Yesterday while Kevin Cheng and Charmaine Sheh was filming outdoor scene for [Beyond], there was a sudden electricity disruption for over 10 minutes. During that time period, Kevin and Charmaine took opportunity to rest but did not interact with each other. However, they graciously agree to take picture together when requested by reporters.

With regards of the tabloid reporting that Charmaine and Kevin booked a room to have dinner, Charmaine nonchalantly expressed: "That night Kiki Sheung was also around. There's nothing much to respond to those made up stories. Having meals with colleague is very normal, nothing to respond. (Are you evading each other?) Like usual, we won't purposely evade one another." Another tabloid also indicates that Charmaine 'donated coffin' in Thailand in order to exchange better luck. At this Charmaine appear to be confused and indicate that she have not left Hong Kong these few months. She hopes that the rumors will not become too outrageous.

Kevin laughed and thanked the tabloid for featuring him on the front page again. "It's the same old story again. It's a big group of people but they wrote secretly arrive one after another. I don't want to respond to this!" Does he feel relieved that [Beyond] is wrapping up filming soon? "Yes I am relieved, but it's not related to rumors. I already expected to have rumors anyway. I'm relieved because I don't need to memorize those difficult dialogues anymore!"

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usWhat's wrong having a simple meal with colleagues? This week Oriental Sunday reported that Charmaine secretly rendezvous with Kevin at a secluded private restaurant. How secret could that be, since they also pictured Kiki Sheung with Kevin outside the building?

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us 3 Weekly just stooped to a new low with their donating coffin story. Donating coffin is a well-known charity act among Buddhist in Thailand, the purpose of donating is to provide coffin and funerals for those who have died in accidents, or unclaimed bodies in morgue. Instead what 3 Weekly wrote is that donations are made to 'exchange good luck by absorbing corpse energy'. WTF is that? The donator are required by the temple to stick a note of their name on the coffin, and there's no death bodies inside! Even I, a non-Thai and non-Buddhist is not that ignorant. I hope karma will bite those reporters in their asses.

At least Next Magazine posted something less negative about [Beyond] filming this week. Hahaha... Emperor Moses is indeed popular among the ladies...

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Enough about all those unhappy stuff. Charmaine's birthday is coming soon and HK fans threw her an early celebration yesterday! So sweet and nice of them!
