Added 25/6: TVB8 clip of Charmaine @ Beautiful Cooking

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Charmaine, Kevin & Tavia interview @ Arirang Showbiz Extra. No comment on the rusty Cantonese accented English...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Read something humorous in this week of Face (HK tabloid). According to the magazine quoting Dennis Law, the director for new action movie [滅門], his original choice for for kick-ass female gangster is... Charmaine! Because Virginia Lok recommended Bernice, he gave her a try. Bernice turns out to be good in her action moves and hence her role screentime was increased. Anyway this is just what the tabloid said, so no need to take it seriously. Hmm... picturing Charmaine as 打女?Hehehe...

p.s. Have you visited Charmaine's TVB Blog today?

Sehseh I know you're gonna bite my head off for saying this but I am shocked that Charmaine's english is rather bad. I was thinking she should be able to carry on a decent conversation, considering where she lived, studied, etc but she seemed rather unable to even string a decent sentence together without the HK trademark of ah and oh. Where IS Moses? He should have been there to land a hand. Very shocked. There is a big difference between HK accented english and not able to string a sentence together. Like Christopher Lee from Mediacorp can't even speak. That that I watched a Hollywood movie I think called Push and in it was a HK actor we often see, very tall, looking rather like a deformed tall guy, always in those fantasy type series/movies and yet my god, can he speak good english!

Just shows, old timers are more well educated and more exposed. Of course I don't expect her to go "Hi! I am ChaRRRRmain from Hong Konnng.. " type of accent like we now see and hear so often but I expected more...

She can carry a casual conversation in English. English speaking fans who have meet her can attest to that.
It's very different when we're doing interviews. For her (and us who is not speaking English regularly) being interviewed in a foreign country and press, there's bound to be nervousness.
Kevin spent a few years in California. His english interview isn't fluent either. Sonija practically grew up in Canada - her English in last year's interview was amateur too. Does that mean their knowledge of English is bad?

By the way, since you mentioned studying in Swiss, fyi the language she studied is German.

We went through the same issue in the past in my cbox where you insisted she can't speak German because you've never heard her speak.

To be honest with you, since I knew you for years (despite you favorite criticism topic is Charmaine), we get along quite well but that German incident was something I could not forget because you are truly condescending and you choose to do that over cbox. Yes I feel insulted because I've given you a lot of respect, even in your own site.

This is the case of rusty english not bad english. When one has not spoken a language for a long time, it will get rusty. Then, when one try to speak it, one will need awhile to think of the correct word to use.

I use to speak BM fluently, but, since I left uni, I don't speak BM very often. So, when I converse in BM, I sometimes will need a while to dig my brain for the right word.

I am very surprised that Kevin isn't speak English very well. By that I mean he has a heavy accent. He was born in the USA and went to a university in Cali. Well in Kevin and Charmaine's defense, they have lived in Hong Kong for a while now. Accents are easy to pick up and hard to get rid of. They speak english very well in contrast to other tvb actors and actresses. I am surprised but applaud them for their great interview. I think it is very cute:) Can't wait for Beyond to show.
