AOS episode 1-2: Full Blast

The first two episodes of Always Ready (AR) nearly knock me off my feet. No I mean literally. I almost had a heart attack when the themevideo started with a loud blast. In anyway, these two episode did an impressive job and I did not say this due to Charmaine as her appearance so far was none existence apart from lying there motionlessly.

What was TVB thinking? Airing such adrenaline-pumped series at 10pm slot? (In HK TV audiences term, it can be considered as graveyard time). This series was filled with the loud blasting sound from helicopters! In case some of you are curious, the first two episode does not resemble TITS at all, especially the english dialogue (God, thank you so much for this as I can't bear another Francis Ng or Joe Ma attempt at english)

Okay, so I admit Shirley Yeung and Linda Chung was a little hard to stomach but we can always avert our attention to Bowie Lam and Chan San Chung. Does anyone know the english name of the latter? He looked really suave as the co-pilot.

Below are some of the characters that made their appearance in the first two episodes, in random order: (p.s. To those who kindly inform me of their real names, thank you!)

Ekin Cheng as Matt. Hmm... Ekin has aged considerably. No Botox lunches meh?

Bowie Lam as Ben. I like this character. He always seem cold but you never knew that he was sort of like 'agony aunt' to Matt.

Charmaine as Carrie. Matt's comatose girlfriend. Not much was known about her, apart from fact that she loves classical music.

Shirley Yeung as Nikki. The wheelchair bound version of Bowie in AOM. Except that she's louder and irritating.

A very cute child actor, Jacky Wong. This is Jacky, Ben's four year old son.

Matt's colleague, Choi Hong Nin as Wilson. A bit sissy though.

Ai Wai as Tak Sir. I'm very ashamed to say that I forgot his name in the first place. Anyway, he's the superior of Matt. The above pic was a funny scene involving him and the GFS team member in the locker room.

Greg Rivers as Paul. He is the Head of GFS.

Chris Lai as Kelvin. Poor Kelvin, starting on the wrong foot with Nikki. Sooner or later he'll suffer from nervous breakdown with all those pressures from Ben; his sifu and of course Nikki, who enjoy being mean to him.

Linda Chung as Sandra. Her potrayal was quite icy, which fitted Sandra's characteristic but her voice is too gentle.

Another actor whose name I know not. He's the senior colleague of Matt and often joins him duing rescue operation.

Joe Junior as Jimmy, Head of Engineer in GFS. Very stern like Ben.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Kenny Wong as Gilbert, or Gil. The GFS team always make fun of him because he doesn't give up trying for a son even after having 3 daughters in a row.

Charles Szeto as Derek. Intellectually bright cadet who has a crush on Sandra.

Chan San Chung as Albert, Ben's co-pilot. Did I mention that he looks super duper suave when wind blows through his pantene worthy hair?! Drools...

Scenes in AR:

My favorite scene: The GFS team was discussing what to get as a present for their colleague who just gave birth. Gil suggested giving baby pacifiers because he has plenty in his home while Wilson wanted a baby sling. Matt then suggested to buy a baby car seat and Gil protested as they only present him with a tiny gold bracelet when his 3rd daughter was born.

Matt has been devoted to Carrie ever since her accident three years ago. I feel pretty bad for Matt (who persisted all these years purely out of his memory with Carrie), as we all knew when Carrie wakes up, she doesn't remember anything about him.

Ah! Finally a scene where we see Carrie speaking!DL clip here.

  2. If I am not mistaken, Tak Sir is Ai Wai.

The other one was Charm's brother in Country Spirit right? Don't know his name.

This series looks a bit overcrowded don't you think? Someone must die and I assume shirley yeung, charm and bowie will never ever die.

  3. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, that Wilson is her brother in CS. Mentioning CS, do you remember the guy that play Lo Hoi Pang's son in CS? In here, his role was reduced to a doctor who still remain nameless to the audiences. Poor fellow, at least in CS he has a major role (villian, but still a supporting actor).

Think it's overcrowded? The producer mentioned that there were more than 20 main characters. So far, Nga Ka Nin and Fiona Yuen has yet to appear.
